Happy Spring! After one of the most memorable winters in Boston history, Fermata Town is excited to kick off the new season in a big way with lots of exciting news and events taking place over the next few months. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s ahead and where you can find us performing near you!
Contemporary A Cappella Record Awards (CARAs) – As many of you know, our second album, Overtime, received eight CARA nominations. On Saturday, April 11, the group will attend the event which can be compared to the Grammy’s of A Cappella, dressing up for the black tie occasion held at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, Mass. Wish us luck, and if you haven’t already, grab your copy of Overtime today!
Sing That Thing! – We were among one of 24 local vocal ensembles selected to participate in a new local TV series designed to showcase the best amateur choirs/groups in Greater Boston and beyond in a contemporary production model that will reveal the passion, vitality, and timeless appeal of the choral experience. The first show will air on Friday, April 17 at 8:00 PM on WGBH-2 with episodes airing every Friday through May 22. Tune in to see if we’re as cute on TV as we are in person!
Boston Harmony Sweepstakes – We’re so excited to be competing again in the Boston Harmony Sweepstakes on Sunday, April 19 at 2:00 PM at Cohen Auditorium on the Tufts University campus. Two years ago we made our sweeps debut in Boston and we were blown away by the love and support from the community! We can’t wait to hit the stage again and invite all our fans out for an amazing afternoon of a cappella which will feature FOUR past champions! It’s going to be a show you don’t want to miss!
National A Cappella Convention (NACC) – Last fall, we submitted some videos to be considered for a showcase performance slot at the inaugural NACC taking place in Memphis, Tenn. We were ecstatic to be selected for a spot during the opening night of the festival and on Friday, April 24, will join several other talented groups for a night of a cappella.
A Night of A Cappella at the Cabot Theater – On Saturday, May 2 at 8:00 PM, we’re excited to headline an evening of a cappella at the historic Cabot Theater in Beverly, Mass. Our friends, The Uninvited Bridesmaids, will open the show before we put on a full set of all of your FTown favorites. Tickets are available the evening of the show or online through the Cabot Theater website.
Lansdowne Pub A Cappella Brunch – For the first time in 2015, the Townies return to the Lansdowne Pub on Sunday, May 17 around noon for their monthly A Cappella Brunch hosted by our friends in No Flattery. Come enjoy some great food while taking in some relaxing a cappella music. This is a free show and will feature several other local groups!
SING! Toronto – For the first time ever, Fermata Town will perform in another country as a part of the SING! Toronto Vocal Arts Festival during the weekend of May 28-31. We’ll be taking part in several of the weekend’s festivities including a Beatles tribute concert and some air time on a local TV news broadcast promoting the festival.
We hope to see you at a show this spring!! If you’re interested in booking Fermata Town for an event this summer, shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
As always, thank you for your support! We continue to sing because you continue to listen!
